10. Raiders of the Lost Arc

This is an awesome movie that I could watch over and over for years to come. Harrison Ford plays the main role as Indiana jones, a college professor and a treasure hunter. Jones ( Ford) searches for the lost Arc of the Covenant. His adventures in this movie lead him to old Friends and new discoveries. I like this movie because it has a wonderful storyline that can be easily followed and enjoyed. Ford is phenominal in all his acting, but this time might be his best. Karren Allen lends an excellent performance as Marion Ravenwood daughter of jones ex-mentor Professor. Ravenwood. Jones meets Marion again when he goes on n adventure to find the lost arc. Marion holds the key to finding the Arc making her Jones's new partner. I really liked all of this movie, it didn't have the greatest graphics but it was made very well. The part I like most is when jones goes to steal the Arc from the german soldiers. he gets in a big fight with a man much larger than himself and wins blowing up a plane and many other things.
This movie was almost all action, it has the ability to keep a person hooked to the TV till the movie is over. I also like the scene when Jones chases down the caravan transporting the Arc. he takes over the truck with the Arc and fights off the soldiers gaurding the tuck, as well as the other vehicles that are trying to stop him. He completely dominates the competition and keeps the Arc from their hands. I would suggest this movie to anyone who enjoys an action movie that is mixed with a wonderful love story. I enjoy this movie and will watch it for many more years to come.

9. stand by me

Stand by me is a movie about four great friends and the adventure they had once. The story is told by a narrator and it is based on an event from his life. It tells a story about a journey to find a missing dead boy's body. They set up plans to travel and find it to become heros. Chris ( River Pheonix) is the best friend of the narrator and helps support him in his goals. His brother's friend Ace ( Keifer Sutherland) harrasess and tries to find the body before him.
overall I thought that this movie was alright. I didn't really like the movie because of the story and the type of movie it was. I'm not really interested in movies about kids, or journeys about life lessons or things like that. I preffer to watch movies with action, or adventure, or comedy to make my day better. Movies that can't keep me hooked allow me to go to sleep while watching them so I don't. I disliked the attitudes of the boys in the movie. They all tried to act adult and tough which I think is extremely annoying.
Really this movie might have been considered good by another person of a different temperment. Personally I would enjoy never seeing this movie again. Someday I will possibly have a different interest in movies, and then perhaps I will enjoy this one. Besides the cheesy script, the actors in this movie are really talented. They act well and stay in character the entire time. This movie has a huge amount of great actors that help make it better than what it would be with another cast, or a cast without some of these people. River Pheonix and Keifer Sutherland were my favorite actors in the film.

8. finding nemo

Finding Nemo is an animated movie about a clown fish named Marlin who loses his son. This movie is about Marlins search to find his son Nemo. Along his way to find his son, marlin has many great adventures along with a new friend Dory. This was an amazing movie because of all of the amazing work that went into it. For its time period this movies graphics were some of the best possible that could be acheived. This movie has a great deal of excellent story line which keeps people amused for all time. This is a great movie for kids to see because of its wonderful graphics and great story about friendship.
I especially like one of the scenes where Dory and Marlin are at a meeting with the three sharks. This is a great scene because of some of the funny scripting that was written out. The colors of all the fish and enviorments were well blended and all of the computer graphics moved well to make it seem as real as possible. I think that this movie was an extreme inspiration for mostly all of the animated movies that came after it. I have to say that even though Finding Nemo was a kids movie it still had a script that could have been used in another genre of movies. The only thing that I dislike is that the moviie is about fish in the ocean. I would have preffered more reality, but for a movie that was specifically meant for kids, it was appropriate.
Overall this movie is one I enjoy everytime I watch it. It keeps me hooked on the characters it created and the storyline that drives them. The visuals that were created are amazing for what they had to work with and it helps show how far animated movies have come.

7. Iron Man

Iron Man was a phenominal movie about a man named Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) who is one of the greatest inventors in American History. The movie starts out with Stark being kidnapped by a terrorist organization in the Middle East. While in captivity Stark is forced to work on one of his greatest weapons. While working on his missile he begins plans for his eascape. Once he is free Stark starts working on a new Iron Man suit. From here on Stark vows to fix the problem he helped create with his weapons. This movie has a huge number of famous actors that contribute a great deal of wonderful acting. Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges, and Gwyneth Paltrow were a huge part of what made this movie what it was. Pepper Potts (Paltrow) plays Starks long time vital assistant who Tony couldn't live without. Rhodey (Terrence Howard) plays Starks long-time friend and liason to the United States Military.
This movie has won 2 oscars and 7 other awards, along with 42 other nominations. Robert Downe Jr. won an award for actor of the yeaar, it also won an award for the summer 2008 blockbuster award. Many of the other awards it was nominated for were for it's visual effects and it's soundtrack. These just help show that the movie was extremely well put together. It brought together all of the different pieces of a movie in a way that will be able to last for a very long time.I believe that this movie is an amazing one, and it is one of my favorites. I really like the visual effects in this movie like the scene when Iron Man goes to fight terrorists in the Middle East. This scene has a great deal of visual effects that wouldn't have been possible years ago. The music in this movie was extremely good as well. All of it was well placed and picked in a way that only an experienced person could do.

Vacation. The Fast and the Furious 4

The Fast an the Furious 4 is an awesome movie about illegal street racing and other illegal activities. This is perhaps the best of all of these movies as it focuses on old school muscle cars. These where cars built to go really fast in a straight line. They didn't do too horribly around curves, but they were primarily straight-line cars. This movie uses some of the most popular and rare muscle cars in many of it's scenes. Some parts of the movie weren't actually real and this fact was obvious. The CGI used in this movie is extremely well done and the next best thing to reality. My main problem is that it kills some of the reality of the movie. On a positive note Paul Walker and Vin Diesel did do most of the driving throughout the movie. This is nice because you can get better views of the cars while they are driving.
Paul Walker and Vin Diesel team up again to help accomplish both of their goals. Though Vin both show a good deal of resentment towards Paul the two make an awesome team. Even thought Paul Walkers character is a cop he still does a great deal of illegal acts to help Vin Diesel and take down an elusive, and highly successful drug organization. There was a good deal of actors in this movie and man of them did very nice jobs exhibiting the lives of street racers. They show some characteristics of a life that fast. Overall I really enjoyed this movies intensity and drama. It displays hardcore race scenes of some of the finest cars ever made in American history. By using muscle cars this movie gave me a sense of pride in American ingenuity. It gives a glimpse into our past forms of transportation.

6. Napoleon Dynamite

Let me start this off properly, this movie is horrible. It is about a High school student named Napoleon Dynamite. He's a weird kid that almost no one will hang out with. His struggles with hiss family are also apparent here. The movie is supposed to be a comedy about his life. It shows his attempts to help his new best friend achieve his goals, and to become what he belives is cooler. I think the writer failed when he wrote this movie. If your looking for a pointless and uneventful movie than you may be able to enjoy it. I think the only good thing about this movie is that its easy to make fun of.
Napoleon dynamite was enjoyed by many people around the country. It received 10 awards and 18 nominations for best popular movie, best comedy, best first feature, best movie, breakthrough male, etc. I believe this movie was completely misjudged , and it shows that anything can make it even if it shouldn't. Someday Americans will realize that trash like this dumbs them down so they won't realize whats really going on. I'm not sure what the critics saw in this movie, but it became a huge success around the United States.
This movie for being as bad as it was ,had a lot of talent. Jon Heder and Efren Ramirez gave the best performances they can be expected to give for this movie.They really fit the nerdy 80's style that was portrayed in the movie. Jon Gries and Aaron Ruell did a great job being the weird and crazy family.These two fine actors did a great job creating the crazy, nerdy, Midwestern family that ruin Napoleons life. Although the parts they play are extremely nerdy, these men compose themselves well enough to make the characters seem believable.

5. The matrix

The Matrix is a movie about a world where robots take over. Morpheus, played by Laurence Fshburne, is searching for a hero to save humanity. On his search he finds Neo, played by Keanu Reeves, who he hopes will be able to save humanity. It is the first of a set of three and the best in my opinion. This movie has some very good actors throughout it that make it what it is. Although almost every part of this movie is unbelievable and impossible, it is still an extremely good movie to watch at least once. At the time this movie was made it had the best computer graphics at the time.
The cast of this movie was extremely well put together, and all of the actors seemed to work together extremely well. Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne put together amazing performances for the somewhat corny script they where given. Carrie-Anne Moss and Hugo weaving also gave excellent performances throughout the movie.
This movie was highly awarded as i won four Oscars, 28 other wins, and 36 nominations. Some of the Oscars it won were for best visual effects, as well as best sound and editing. It also won awards for best director, an Eddie award for best feature film (dramatic), Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss also won awards for best leading actor and actress.
This movie's graphics and sound were amazing. The movie had some of the best fight scenes I have seen and it won awards for just that. What this movie lacks in a non-corny script it makes up for in multiple intense fight scenes. Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne were excellent in all of their fight scenes as they demolish those enemies that stand in their way. I would tell anyone looking for an awesome movie to watch this one.

4. My favorite genre

My favorite genre of movies would have to be action/adventure. I always like to see these movies because they rarely ever can be bad. When you go to one you know what to expect from it. All these movies need to be good are good action scenes because thats the main part of the movie. An action/adventure movie can have a bad script, but if it still has good action scenes it can still be good. My top three action/adventure movies are The Boondock Saints, Appaloosa, and Tombstone.
Tombstone- This is one of my favorites because of the intense action in it. I also enjoy the historical aspect of the movie. My favorite scenes are at the OK corral, the battle between Wyatt Earp and Wild Bill, and one of my favorites is the duel between Doc Holiday and Ringo. These scenes coupled with a good script makes this movie one of my favorites of all time.
Appaloosa- This movie was good because it was a straight up western movie. It's a new movie done in a great style. The action scenes in this movie are some of the best I've seen in years. This movie helps show a glimpse of the roughness of the old west as is rarely seen in a Hollywood movie.
The Boondock Saints- If your looking for an intense movie that can show the love of family this movie is for you. The main characters are two brothers who believe they do the work of god. They vanquish the evil of the world in their own style and become heros to some. This movie will be a favorite of all people who want action for many years to come.

3. Fast and the Furious

Everyone loves a good action movie from time to time. Fast and the Furious is an intense movie about the underground world of street racing. Every Fast and the Furious movies is different in some way. This movie was built mainly around illegal street drag races. A good drag race is always extremely exciting but short. Fast and the Furious is the new exception to that. Usually a race is under 13 seconds which is extremely fast and hard to catch. This movie has added in details not normally seen to give a better representation of what is going on in a larger amount of time.
This movie has a wonderful cast that are as close as Hollywood can get to actual street racers. Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are great in this movie because of the attitudes they bring into it. Vin Diesel is an imposing figure who is the man in street racing and Paul walker is an up and coming cop trying to make his first big case. After putting himself in debt to Vin Diesel, Paul Walker is introduced deep into the world of illegal street racing. His original mission becomes a blur as he is captured by this new and exciting world. This movie was extremely well put together, making it one to see.
In my opinion this movie is extremely good. I like all the different types of cars and the different ethnic crews. This movie shows the diversity in street racing making it more believable to me. This movie was nominated for and won many different awards. In the MTV Movie Awards, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker won the award for best on-screen team. Vin Diesel was nominated for best male performance, and Paul Walker was nominated for breakthrough male performance. MTV also nominated The Fast and the Furious for best movie.

2. Snatch

I think we should watch the movie Snatch in our film appreciation class. It is a great movie that requires a large amount of attention to understand. It has many good actors that worked together to make an extremely entertaining movie that many people enjoy. It is a bit hard to follow since there are many characters to follow. Each characters story fits in some way with all the others to achieve one great outcome. Jason Statham gives a great performance as a small time manager caught up in some bad situations but overcomes them. The film also has many other big time actors in it. Brad Pitt is one of the other main characters in this film. He plays a gypsy boxer who keeps a cool head and works every situation. He effectively gets what he wants no matter what other consequences might occur from his actions. Benicio Del Toro, Dennis Farina, Vinnie Jones, and Rade Serbedzija are all also in the movie as fairly major characters to follow. All of the actors in this movie do an excellent job stringing together an unforgettable movie that is great for any adult or teen. In 2001 Vinnie Jones won best British actor and Guy Ritchie won best British director. Snatch was also nominated for best British film. It also won an award for best sound editing, and another award for excellence in film making. It was nominated for five other awards around the same time period. These reasons are why I think Snatch would be an excellent choice for a movie to watch in class. It is a well respected movie that received many awards and nominations, and it is a movie that takes thought to understand keeping viewers actively watching it until it is finished. This is why I think it should be shown.

10. Van Wilder- This movie is amazing. I like it because Van is the ultimate cool guy at his school, and he chooses to help all those around him. He meets diversity and overcomes it with his own unique style.

9. Kingdom of Heaven- This is a great movie because of the battle scenes and the historical aspect of the movie. It gives a strong main character to connect with giving it more feeling for the viewer.

8. Troy- I love Greek mythology and Achilles is one of the greatest heroes of these stories. Achilles is a larger than life type of person that gives a role model to be followed. The huge dramatic battle scenes also give intensity to the movie which helps keeps viewers interested if they don't know Greek mythology.

7. Four Brothers- I love the strong family connection between the 4 brothers who are all adopted. It proves that family is a great bond that can stand up to any force. I also like the diversity of the brothers because they all have different styles that helps the story progress.

6. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers- I enjoy all of Tolkeins books and stories, but this book was my favorite. In this story you see most of the characters in the series and there is a huge battle scene which was great. This movie has many different parts that display different emotions, this helps compensate for any slow points.

5. The Boondock Saints- These two brothers are driven by what they think is right and they don't let anyone stop them. It has a strong religious hold which is both good and bad, but it doesn't hurt the movie at all. The Irish music in it is also very appealing to listen to, and it fits the movie well.

4. 3000 Miles to Graceland- This is just a great shoot 'em up type of movie that keeps you on your toes the entire time. The rivalry between the mai characters is tense and exciting which helps keep any viewer interested.

3. the Fast and the Furious- I llike cars so this movie about drag racing appeals to me. The story is interesting enough to keep people interested with great cars to back it up.

2. Tombstone- This movie has some of my personal favorite historical characters in it. As well as a great cast playing great roles, this movie has a large amount of action and emotional feeling.

1. Grandmas boy- This movie is one of the funniest I have ever seen. It has a great comedic cast with a solid story that is extremely entertaining. It is a movie that can be watched repeatedly for a quick laugh with good friends.
