4. My favorite genre

My favorite genre of movies would have to be action/adventure. I always like to see these movies because they rarely ever can be bad. When you go to one you know what to expect from it. All these movies need to be good are good action scenes because thats the main part of the movie. An action/adventure movie can have a bad script, but if it still has good action scenes it can still be good. My top three action/adventure movies are The Boondock Saints, Appaloosa, and Tombstone.
Tombstone- This is one of my favorites because of the intense action in it. I also enjoy the historical aspect of the movie. My favorite scenes are at the OK corral, the battle between Wyatt Earp and Wild Bill, and one of my favorites is the duel between Doc Holiday and Ringo. These scenes coupled with a good script makes this movie one of my favorites of all time.
Appaloosa- This movie was good because it was a straight up western movie. It's a new movie done in a great style. The action scenes in this movie are some of the best I've seen in years. This movie helps show a glimpse of the roughness of the old west as is rarely seen in a Hollywood movie.
The Boondock Saints- If your looking for an intense movie that can show the love of family this movie is for you. The main characters are two brothers who believe they do the work of god. They vanquish the evil of the world in their own style and become heros to some. This movie will be a favorite of all people who want action for many years to come.

3. Fast and the Furious

Everyone loves a good action movie from time to time. Fast and the Furious is an intense movie about the underground world of street racing. Every Fast and the Furious movies is different in some way. This movie was built mainly around illegal street drag races. A good drag race is always extremely exciting but short. Fast and the Furious is the new exception to that. Usually a race is under 13 seconds which is extremely fast and hard to catch. This movie has added in details not normally seen to give a better representation of what is going on in a larger amount of time.
This movie has a wonderful cast that are as close as Hollywood can get to actual street racers. Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are great in this movie because of the attitudes they bring into it. Vin Diesel is an imposing figure who is the man in street racing and Paul walker is an up and coming cop trying to make his first big case. After putting himself in debt to Vin Diesel, Paul Walker is introduced deep into the world of illegal street racing. His original mission becomes a blur as he is captured by this new and exciting world. This movie was extremely well put together, making it one to see.
In my opinion this movie is extremely good. I like all the different types of cars and the different ethnic crews. This movie shows the diversity in street racing making it more believable to me. This movie was nominated for and won many different awards. In the MTV Movie Awards, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker won the award for best on-screen team. Vin Diesel was nominated for best male performance, and Paul Walker was nominated for breakthrough male performance. MTV also nominated The Fast and the Furious for best movie.

2. Snatch

I think we should watch the movie Snatch in our film appreciation class. It is a great movie that requires a large amount of attention to understand. It has many good actors that worked together to make an extremely entertaining movie that many people enjoy. It is a bit hard to follow since there are many characters to follow. Each characters story fits in some way with all the others to achieve one great outcome. Jason Statham gives a great performance as a small time manager caught up in some bad situations but overcomes them. The film also has many other big time actors in it. Brad Pitt is one of the other main characters in this film. He plays a gypsy boxer who keeps a cool head and works every situation. He effectively gets what he wants no matter what other consequences might occur from his actions. Benicio Del Toro, Dennis Farina, Vinnie Jones, and Rade Serbedzija are all also in the movie as fairly major characters to follow. All of the actors in this movie do an excellent job stringing together an unforgettable movie that is great for any adult or teen. In 2001 Vinnie Jones won best British actor and Guy Ritchie won best British director. Snatch was also nominated for best British film. It also won an award for best sound editing, and another award for excellence in film making. It was nominated for five other awards around the same time period. These reasons are why I think Snatch would be an excellent choice for a movie to watch in class. It is a well respected movie that received many awards and nominations, and it is a movie that takes thought to understand keeping viewers actively watching it until it is finished. This is why I think it should be shown.

10. Van Wilder- This movie is amazing. I like it because Van is the ultimate cool guy at his school, and he chooses to help all those around him. He meets diversity and overcomes it with his own unique style.

9. Kingdom of Heaven- This is a great movie because of the battle scenes and the historical aspect of the movie. It gives a strong main character to connect with giving it more feeling for the viewer.

8. Troy- I love Greek mythology and Achilles is one of the greatest heroes of these stories. Achilles is a larger than life type of person that gives a role model to be followed. The huge dramatic battle scenes also give intensity to the movie which helps keeps viewers interested if they don't know Greek mythology.

7. Four Brothers- I love the strong family connection between the 4 brothers who are all adopted. It proves that family is a great bond that can stand up to any force. I also like the diversity of the brothers because they all have different styles that helps the story progress.

6. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers- I enjoy all of Tolkeins books and stories, but this book was my favorite. In this story you see most of the characters in the series and there is a huge battle scene which was great. This movie has many different parts that display different emotions, this helps compensate for any slow points.

5. The Boondock Saints- These two brothers are driven by what they think is right and they don't let anyone stop them. It has a strong religious hold which is both good and bad, but it doesn't hurt the movie at all. The Irish music in it is also very appealing to listen to, and it fits the movie well.

4. 3000 Miles to Graceland- This is just a great shoot 'em up type of movie that keeps you on your toes the entire time. The rivalry between the mai characters is tense and exciting which helps keep any viewer interested.

3. the Fast and the Furious- I llike cars so this movie about drag racing appeals to me. The story is interesting enough to keep people interested with great cars to back it up.

2. Tombstone- This movie has some of my personal favorite historical characters in it. As well as a great cast playing great roles, this movie has a large amount of action and emotional feeling.

1. Grandmas boy- This movie is one of the funniest I have ever seen. It has a great comedic cast with a solid story that is extremely entertaining. It is a movie that can be watched repeatedly for a quick laugh with good friends.
